Dirty Looks x Access NFTS: Bringing Post-Production to T-Level Students

Dirty Looks outreach

Last week, we hosted a fantastic session with T-Level students from Acland Burghley School, thanks to our collaboration with Access NFTS, the outreach programme from the National Film and Television School (NFTS).

Our Managing Director, Tom Balkwill, and DI Producer, Agathe Boulous gave an insightful introduction to our facility and explained the intricacies of picture post-production.

Colourist, Claire Winter shared her career journey and the power of colour grading to support storytelling, create different worlds and direct the audience gaze to the important details within the frame. The students even got hands-on experience driving the Baselight!

Flame Artist, Margo Lazerenko demonstrated the magic of visual effects to erase or create elements in the shot.

Margo also spoke about how her unconventional journey and artistic endeavours landed her in #vfx and how there isn’t just one path fits all and the importance of skills that you may not think are directly connected to the role.

A big shoutout to NFTS students/Alumni Kirsty, Thompson, and Benny for leading the discussion on the range of careers in the industry and sharing their experience and advice. Also massive thanks to Oliver Rosen from Acland Burghley School for bringing such an enthusiastic group of students. We’re excited to see what the future holds for these talented individuals!

We can’t wait for our next Access NFTS session! (coming in 2025!)
