Dirty Looks Belgium
Launched in 2017, Dirty Looks Belgium, specialises in EU-Schengen co-productions and is strategically located and equipped to streamline the creative process between countries for film and TV projects using the Belgian Tax Shelter system.
Working in partnership with sound studio, Aquarium Belgium, we offer assistance to filmmakers looking to access the incentives offered through this scheme.
Recent projects include Dance First (dir. James Marsh) for Sky Arts, comedy episodic The Dry for ITVX and disaster film, Avgrunden for SF Studios.
Our Services
Our facility has Baselight 4K capabilities for remote and onsite grading, with HDR imagery on Sony x310 and theatrical SDR grading on a 6m screen. The facility has direct, high-speed, secure and encrypted connectivity to the London facility, to enable real-time streaming of work between the sites.
Our workflow is set up so your project is mirrored between London and Brussels. Whilst the grade is running in Belgium (with the Director and colourist), the UK team are able to review in parallel. VFX reviews of Belgian work can also run in London, and vice versa.
Camera tests, meetings and other ancillary services can be arranged in London or Brussels, helping travel and accommodation requirements, prior to hopping on the Eurostar for the grade in Brussels.

The Belgium Tax Shelter
The Belgian Tax Shelter is a government-approved tax incentive designed to encourage the production of audiovisual works in Belgium. The system is open to Belgian productions as well as international co-productions with Belgium that meet certain criteria.
All three parties benefit from this arrangement: the producer is offered a very attractive way to finance projects; the investor obtains tax exemption through a virtually risk-free investment; and the Belgian state gains from increased economic activity and spend.
The Tax Shelter can provide additional funding up to 25-30% of the total qualifying expenses in the EEA. It allows the finance of up to 40-45% of the Belgian-eligible expenses which can include a tax credit of up to 45% of the post production spend.
