DI editorial and delivery by Dirty Looks
The Kitchen is a British science fiction drama directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya, with cinematography by Wyatt Garfield.
The film follows two characters Izi (Kane Robinson) and Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman) as they fight to navigate the world as residents of a community that refuses to abandon their social housing.
Dirty Looks was invited to collaborate with Time Based Arts engineering and colour teams to craft a streamlined workflow that could seamlessly handle the intricacies of this complex project, involving numerous modifications and real-time data updates.
We ran the DI editorial with Baselight at Holden House, syncing with Resolve at TBA in Shoreditch. UHD/HDR picture was streamed to the interactive creative grade by Simone Grattarola at Time Based Arts.
DI theatres at both Shoreditch and Holden House were utilised for client reviews, and a real-time stream was set up to another remote location for external collaborator input.
The Kitchen premiered as the closing film of the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 15th 2023 and will premiere on Netflix on 12th January 2024.
At Dirty Looks, we’re all huge fans of Daniel Kaluuya, and we were thrilled to team up with the talented folks at TBA once more. The engineering challenge was stimulating, and our team gained invaluable insights from the experience.
